Information we handle
Email is the only identity/contact field we request. We do not ask for your name, phone number, postal address, date of birth, government ID, or payment details. Email is personal information; account identifiers, security records, and content you submit may also be personal information.
- Accounts: your email address, account identifier, verification and sign-in records, account status, and authentication information handled by our authentication provider.
- Saved research: views, notes, peer groups, watchlists, and alert settings you choose to save.
- Support: your email, messages, and associated correspondence and delivery records.
- Technical and security information: IP addresses, request information, service logs, and records used to prevent abuse and administer accounts.
Public bank regulatory data is separate from your account information. Please do not put names, phone numbers, addresses, confidential customer information, account numbers, passwords, or other sensitive records in notes or support messages. Free-text notes and incoming emails can contain personal information; we do not guarantee automatic detection or removal. Email providers may retain original email headers, signatures, and attachments. Removing a structured field from BankCompass does not erase copies in provider logs, backups, or earlier correspondence.
Why we use it
We use this information to provide accounts and saved research, verify access, send account and support messages, answer requests, maintain the service, and investigate errors or misuse. We do not currently operate advertising or sell personal information. We use aggregate research-workspace analytics to understand traffic and improve features. Authentication and security records are still collected.
Service providers and disclosures
Our providers process information needed to deliver the service: OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare for hosting and storage, Supabase for authentication and account administration, and Resend for email. Authorized administrators can access information needed to support users and operate BankCompass. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to protect rights and security.
The research interface loads fonts from Google Fonts, which receives network request information such as your IP address. Following an external source link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Browser storage and tracking
We use browser session storage for sign-in sessions and account recovery, and local storage to remember a research destination during sign-in. That destination is used for up to 24 hours. Hosting and authentication providers may use essential cookies or similar technology. Clearing browser storage may sign you out or remove local preferences. BankCompass does not use advertising trackers. Our optional usage analytics honor Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals; essential authentication, support and security functions continue to operate.
Aggregate usage analytics
We count research-workspace page views, estimated visits, broad device and referral categories, loaded bank comparisons, initiated exports, and successful research saves. These analytics store daily totals, not individual browsing histories. They do not store email, account identifiers, IP addresses, full URLs, search terms, or research content. Known signed-in administrators are excluded. A timestamp in browser session storage estimates a new visit per tab after 30 minutes without a tracked action; it is not a unique visitor identifier. We do not use analytics cookies or cross-site tracking. Hosting and other provider technical logs are separate and may contain request information as described above.
Aggregate analytics are retained for up to 365 days; expired totals are removed when analytics are collected or a report is accessed. Enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser disables this optional analytics collection. Counts are approximate and begin when the feature is deployed.
Retention and your choices
Saved research remains associated with your account until deleted or otherwise removed. Support correspondence and administrative records are retained to handle requests, maintain security, and meet applicable obligations; they are not automatically deleted when a conversation is closed. Provider logs and backups have their own retention periods.
You can remove saved research using the available controls. To request access, correction, or deletion of account or support information, contact us. We may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal or security reasons, and removal from backups may take longer. Your rights depend on applicable law. Apart from aggregate analytics as described above, no fixed automatic deletion schedule is currently configured.
Security, children, and updates
We use access controls and authentication to protect information, but no online service can guarantee complete security. BankCompass is intended for adult research users and is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information.
We will post updates here with a revised date and provide additional notice of material changes when appropriate or required by law.
